The successful candidate will work on the project “Physicochemical properties of forest fire smoke particles and their effect on the stratospheric ozone layer” with Prof. Allan Bertram. The project will involve collaborations with several other colleagues and institutions. The physicochemical properties that the successful candidate will study include multiphase chemistry, viscosity, and cloud nucleating ability. Approaches will include mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence recovery after photobleaching, fluorescence microscopy, the poke-flow technique, flow-tube kinetics, and oxidation flow reactors. A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, atmospheric sciences, or a related discipline is required. The position is available immediately.
