Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cloud System Modeling

The Center for Climate Systems Research at Columbia University invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in climate modeling and data analysis at its Morningside campus in New York City. Appointment is full-time for a two-year period. Appointment is made annually and is contingent upon funding and performance.

The main goal of the project is to determine which observational information most strongly constrains long-term climate warming and equilibrium climate sensitivity.  For this purpose, the successful applicant will evaluate cloud controlling factors in the CMIP6 models, use the NASA GISS ModelE to evaluate feedbacks activated by different patterns of warming, and use a perturbed physics ensemble to quantify parametric uncertainty in cloud feedbacks.   The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work closely with Research Scientist, Dr. Kate Marvel, at CCSR along with a supportive team, including researchers at NASA GISS and the Universities of Illinois and Washington.

The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will be expected to lead peer-reviewed publications and present their results regularly at scientific meetings.
